For thirteen years, Deflect has protected thousands of independent media, human rights, non-profit and activist organizations from denial of service and many other cyber attacks. Our clients hail from over a hundred different countries, and their platforms are read by over a million people every day. The network is always under attack, from the garden variety to sophisticated state actors attempting to silence our clients. But we perservere, and Deflect clients enjoy an uninterrupted digital experience.
Since we first opened our digital doors, Deflect has offered free services to qualifying non-profit organizations – infrastructure, technical support, managed hosting, forensic analysis and advanced features like Baskerville AI. We are continuously trialing and implementing new tools to avoid network censorship, improve bot management and secure our platforms. However, none of this is easy, or for that matter, cheap. A dozen team members and global infrastructure rental is what keeps our clients online and protected from attack, day in and day out.
Philantropic activity by Deflect has been primarily funded through public sources to date – government grants and support from foundations. Recently, many of these sources have dissapeared and more are at risk. We must adapt to these new realities and innovate on our revenue streams.
