How to migrate your WordPress site

< 1 min read

If you already have a working WordPress site that you wish to move to eQPress, the first thing you need to do is sign up with Deflect (signup as a non-profit if you are eligible) and specify that you would like to move your existing website to eQPress. It would be also helpful to know if your WordPress instance contains a single website or is a multi-site with subdomains (https://sub.example.com) or subdirectories (https://example.com/sub).

This post contains information for migrating your website to eQPress. If you need any help, don’t hesitate to ask for our support.

What we need #

  1. Schedule a 1 to 2 day block (from Monday till Friday) when no updates are happening on your site.
  2. We need a complete backup of your full wordpress directory (all files and folders including uploads, themes, plugins).
  3. We need an entire SQL database dump (not just an XML/WXR dump)
  4. What is your current version of wordpress. Is it multi-site?
  5. Let us know if you have any special setup that you know of. In our test we will make sure these special setup features work before we put site live.
  6. During the migration, you will need to make sure that no modification occurs on your website, to avoid data loss during the migration to our servers.

Limitations #

Please keep all the eQPress limitations in mind!
